What is API?
Published
Also known as: application programming interface.
Think of a shop counter: you don’t walk into the stockroom. You place your order at the counter and get the product. An API is that counter between two programs.
Many services ask for an API key, a kind of password that identifies your app. That key belongs in the back-end, never in the front-end, where anyone can read it. If the AI asks you to paste a key, ask where it will be stored.
